Next stage of development

Heads up on the next stage of general PPC development:

* Key units will be cross-referenced using a new formula (credits to Andreas 2.0 and GuitaRasmus on dakkadakka)

* The Comp doc will be updated to v0.2, with some clarifications and three added scenarios that can be combined for tournament play.

* Individual units will recieve a check to ensure each unit has its worth inside the faction. They will then be cross-referenced to other lists to create better external balance between different lists.

Any opinions and comments are as always welcome!

Another four lists updated to v0.4

Daemons of Chaos, Empire, Dwarfs, and High Elves have been updated for the new PPC Comp format. This means that the first of the summoning armies have had their summoning spells adjusted according to the comp.

The Daemons can upgrade any of their chaos wizards with one or more spells that lets you summon a unit worth a certain amount of points. For example, upgrading a wizard with the "Lesser Summoning" enables the wizard to summon a unit worth up to 100 pts, with a casting value of 7. Should you want the really heavy stuff, you instead upgrade with "The Grand Invocation", that has a casting value of 10 but lets you summon 200 pts worth of models!

You can find these new lists HERE!

Please try it out and comment on it, either here on on the dakkadakka thread:

Five lists updated to v0.4

As of now, the Stormcasts, Bloodbound, Beastmen, Bretonnia, and Dark Elves, have been updated to comply with the PPC Comp document. This means that any ranged weapons in these lists may be used in melee as well.

Monster costs

I discovered something strange today with my base stats excel sheet. For some time now it has looked like brutal units with lots of damage, such as monsters and monstrous infantry, didn't cost properly. They simply murdered any infantry they attacked. This has been reported by many on the forums and through mail as well.

I have been going through my formula, scratching my head a few times, but today I found the error! A small + sign instead of the correct * in the excel sheet was the joker. I have since gone through most army lists again, and high wound, high damage monsters sure have gone up in cost all across the board. And not in a small way. In fact, I rather hope these new points are alittle too high, to end the reign of monsters. Please let me know about it when v0.4 hits the blog. I would rather decrease some monster costs than keep raising them.

On a side note, I have been offered to use a basic stats formula of some nice Danish people to cross-reference to that of my own. While this will naturally take more time, a cross-reference will in the end benefit the PPC with better accuracy. This will be made to the v0.5 versions, as v0.4 is about the monster costs and making all ranged weapons cost according to the new PPC comp.

But the best points costs accuracy will always come from trying and testing in actual battles, so lets game! :)

Using GDrive from now on, not Dropbox

I have noticed that it is hard sometimes to access the lists from Dropbox. I have transferred them all to my Google Drive instead, and linked them from there. That should hopefully work better for everyone!

Release of the PPC Comp doc v0.1!

The PPC Comp document v0.1 is released! You can find it in the header above... or if you're lazy, just click HERE ;)

Blogging time!

You might notice a few changes here on the blog; I put all important documents at the top header, so it will be easy to find at any times.

This will leave the actual blog open to... well to actual blogging. Expect to see updates on the project, as well as batreps and other stuff here in the future.

Cheers!

Discussing the upcoming PPC comp rules

A thread has been created on the dakkadakka forum to discuss how we should improve the gameplay of the PPC set by applying a few fixes and limitations. Something to keep in mind though; the less we mess, the better we're off :)

Welcome to the Age of Sigmar Project Points Cost!

So, the newest Warhammer game called Age of Sigmar is about to be released...

We've been following this game from the earliest rumours, and while we're sad to see the old Fantasy Battles go away, we still can't help but feel excited for what is to come!

When the rulebook and army lists became available, we immidiately downloaded and read like maniacs through them, only to notice what so many had feared - there are NO points cost for any units! I know, I know, it's about narrative gaming and Sudden Death scenarios, but that is not in any way how we want to play our wargames.

Therefor, we immidiately set out to make sure each and every unit had a proper points cost allocated to them. And although there are still plenty of work left, our test games have so far felt balanced, and REALLY fun as well!

Starting very soon, we will begin publishing the points cost for every faction on this newly created blog, as it seems there are lots of others screaming out for this. Once published, we are very open for suggestions and criticism, so be sure to comment away! As far as we are concerned, this is a project best made together in the Warhammer community!
