PPC Update v.2017.10 Delayed

Hi!

You know how the next PPC update to Age of Sigmar was supposed to hit today?

Well...a small gem called Shadespire arrived in the mail today, so we've spent the evening playing it instead. Sorry, but what can we do...it's such a great game and every match so far has been extremely close, almost down to the final activations of the final round. So cool!

Anyways, will try my best to finish the PPC update in the next few days!

Cheers!

GHB 2017 Update

Hi!

With the release of the new General's Handbook for Age of Sigmar, lots and lots of warscrolls have been changed. This will be a massive amount of work fo the PPC, as many of them must be re-calculated from scratch.

Here are PPC points for some of the latest new warscrolls:

Review: Warhammer Quest - Silver Tower

Overview
Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower is a story-driven, co-operative boardgame for 1-4 players by Games Workshop. It retails for around 80 pounds at discount online stores, and has since its release gotten a spiritual sequel in Warhammer Quest: Shadows Over Hammerhal. Worth noting, however, is that Shadows Over Hammerhal is no longer fully co-op, but requires a gamemaster to function properly.

New Years Resolution 2017 - June

Heya,

Another month gone by, more miniatures painted. This month was slower than usual, mainly due to lots of gaming using up my hobby time :)

If I hadn't sold off some unbuilt Bolt Action Russians and some Khorne models, June would have ended up with more new models than finished ones, thanks to the two excellent games Dark Imperium and Dark Souls.

Anyways, here are the June finished models:

A cool Russian KV-2 Gigant tank for use with Dust 1947.

Unboxing: Warhammer 40k - Dark Imperium

It's been a busy few days, with games dropping in from all over, and today was no exception as the newest starter set for Warhammer 40k arrived. I've not been this excited since the Age Sigmar release!

So, what do we get in this beatiful and very heavy box?

Immidiately from the start, it is clear that GW means business with this set. The cover slids open to reveal a nice grimdark two-faced marine staring at you, obviously symbolizing the opposing forces inside.

In this set, GW did an even better way of keeping the miniatures and other stuff apart, as all the sprues containing the miniatures comes in a box of their own. It even comes sealed properly! :)

Beneath the box of miniatures is the hardcover rulebook. Those of you who've read my Xilos Horizon review knows that I believe getting a full rulebook in a starter set is very genereous, which is a word I wouldn't have used for GW up until recently.

Then there are the usual dice and stuff - only that they too are not the usual small white dice and plastic ruler that you can't see any markings on. This time there are larger, more exclusive dice, and a really nice flexible, clear plastic, ruler as well.

Along with the full rulebook, you also get the basic rules in a leaflet of eight pages - twice the amount of pages compared to Age of Sigmar for all them naysayers of that game's early days ;)

Finally, there are also two small books containing the info of both forces included in the starter set, as well as how to assemble them (in colour, no less!) - and how to paint them.

I truly cannot wait to get my first game in tomorrow - and I will definitely write a review of this game and hope it will be as good as I hope it is. It already has a few of my group's older players coming back, which is a good sign in itself!

Unboxing: This War of Mine - The Boardgame

Hey!

I couldn't resist taking a few photos as I opened the next Kickstarter project to arrive at my door step: This War of Mine by Awaken Realms. It will not be getting a review as it's not a typical dungeon crawler or wargame (altough it is very much about war in its most horrible shape).

By the way, a new phone with a much better camera is on its way, so we're hopefully soon done with the bad photos of late...

Unboxing: Dark Souls - The Boardgame

Finally!

I've been eagerly awaiting this one for some time now - my wave 1 kickstarter box of Dark Souls the Boardgame! Living in the (appearantly) far away land of Sweden had me waiting alot longer than folks in the UK, so I've tried my best not to read unboxings and reviews in an attempt to avoid any spoilers.

Review: Beyond the Gates of Antares - The Xilos Horizon

Overview

Quite possibly the miniatures game with the longest name I've ever encountered, Beyond the Gates of Antares: The Xilos Horizon, is Warlord Games’ major starter set for its 28mm Sci-Fi game of the same name. It retails for around £65 and pits the humans of the PanHuman Concord against the aliens of the hateful Ghar Empire. The game uses 10-sided dice for its mechanics, and shares many similarities with it’s WW2-era sibling Bolt Action.

New Years Resolution 2017 - May

Hey all!

During May I decided to start working on my Silver Tower miniatures, to get them fully painted by the end of June.

Hey all!

You can now find the newest version (v2017.06) of the PPC army lists and Comp Document HERE.

Unfortunately, the text file oontaining the list of changes for v2017.06 was lost - that'll teach me to always keep the list on my Google Drive in the future...

As always, special thanks goes out to NinthMusketeer for all his hard work and suggestions!

Review: Zombicide - Black Plague

Overview

Zombicide - Black Plague is a co-operative tactical combat boardgame by Guillotine Game. It is designed for 1-6 players and, as the name suggests, features lots of zombies and the killing of them in droves!

It retails for around £85 and has plenty of miniatures and other stuff in the box.
Zombicide has an older sibling with which is shares many of its rules, but Black Plague changes the setting from a contemporary modern age to a medieval/fantasy one.

The Game Box!

Fluff

The opening text of the rule- and questbook really says it all. Zombicide is set in a grim medieval world, where hardships are endured every day. When Zombies, summoned by the evil necromancers in an attempt to conquer the land, come biting and ripping from out of the woods it is up to a group of survivors to fight back.

Death, injustice, plague, and war are common things these days,
but nothing really prepared us for... Zombies!

That pretty much sums it up. Zombicide is alot less about story and alot more about action. Each quest does provide a short description of why the survivors are there and what they are supposed to do, but it is easily skipped by those who are simply looking for the action of the game and doesn't really bring the game's background story to life.

Game Components & Build Quality

In the core set, you get 71 detailed, unpainted, plastic miniatures:

New Years Resolution 2017 - April

Time to show what has been done this month!

For starters, I managed to get my hands on a painted copy of the Betrayal at Calth boardgame, by Games Workshop. Although I found out the models were not legally equipped by the game's rules, it still took far less time for me to convert them right than it would to have built and painted them all from scratch. All I had to do was to swap a few marine parts out, and paint the new pieces up with approximately the same colours as was used by the original painter. I also made a few more highlights here and there - and put som blue glow on the Ultramarines plasma weapons.

This meant I could then sell my other copy of Calth, and count all these models towards my Resolution goal. Yay!

Word Bearers

Ultramarines

Next up was another Cybertronic model for Warzone Resurrection. This one's called a Scorpion, and it ambushes unfortunate enemies by burrowing into the desert sands weeks or even months in advance, only unburrowing at the exact moment the enemy comes close enough.
Cybertronic Scorpion

Speaking of deserts, here are some Dust 1947 USMC soldiers. I converted this Command Squad from a simple Rifle Squad and some extra 40k and Bolt Action bits. Turned out to be simple but nice. The tank in the rear is an M10 Wolverine that I assembled during April but will paint in May.

Dust 1947 USMC

I also built a german Königstiger (King Tiger) for the same game, but didn't get to paint it. Here's how it looks so far, though. It's quite massive for a realistic WW2 tank!

One of the most fearsome tanks of WW2, the King Tiger!

Last. but not least, meet Brogg. He's a stand-in Khorgorath for Age of Sigmar, raised and bred by Bloodstokers, he's mind is so twisted by torture and blood rites that he believes himself to be a Khorgorath.

I've also sold off alot of other unpainted stuff, including 40k/Sigmar daemons and lots of Kings of War/War of the Roses minis that I haven't used in years..

New Years Resolution 2017 - March

Hello!

Here's the painted miniatures for March!

I have focused on getting a ton of Zombicide Black Plague minis ready, with minimal effort except for the heroes, that I spent some more time on. I noticed that the plastic used for these minis are prone to chipping, so I put some matt varnish on the hero miniatures. Although they seem sealed enough, the varnish also took away some of the highlighting I did.

Here we go!

Our valiant heroes!
The Necromancer, the Abomination, and the
horde of Walkers, Runners and Fatties!

Additional models from the Kickstarter:
Queen Medea and the Deadeye Walkers

Alakhai the Cunning from Warzone Resurrection

AoS: Fan-Made Tomb Kings Battletome

Hey!

Something  cool for was released for Age of Sigmar today, something that I felt the need to share here because it really deserves all the attention it can get. It's a fan-made Battletome for Tomb Kings, providing them with an unofficial but interesting place in the mortal realms.

Check it out on Mengel Miniatures' blog HERE!

AoS: Stormcast Eternals PPC Update

Hi,

It took a few days longer than expected, but the Stormcast Eternals PPC army list has now been updated with the new units and is now called v2017.02b.

After the initial calculations on the Raptors, it became appearant that the points formula needed some tweaks for longer range weapons, which is why it took abit longer to update the list.

Find the newest list HERE.
